We produced ten one hour programmes for the Community Channel, despite having no budget. Volunteers with media skills, local people making time, ready made films, discussion formats - it was all there in SOUTHWARK HOUR. Two of our programmes were made with the participation of a group of young guys from Peckham who at the time were attending a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). In their second show they met up with Brian Paddick, then Deputy Assistant Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, and showed him round the estate where one of them was still living. That estate, the Acorn Estate, has subsequently been demolished. Here are three extracts from that programme.
